Take the ferry from Tórshavn to Tvøroyri. The journey takes only 1 hour 45 min. Drive to Sandvík the northernmost village on Suðuroy. It is connected to the road system of the island through a 1500 m long tunnel located high in the mountains. Follow a narrow road from Sandvík to the west coast where the nature is magnificent. Vertical bird-cliffs form the coast here. On the opposite end of the island there is Sumba, one of the oldest villages in the Faroe Islands. It is the southernmost of the villages on Suðuroy. The village lies behind high mountains and it used to be difficult to reach in wintertime, when the storms raged. If the weather is clear, you should take the road over the mountains. Before you reach Sumba, you can stop at the village Vágur, if you need fuel or refreshments. For more information about routes where to find sights, please contact the Tourist Information
