From Tórshavn you can set off to Eysturoy to explore the many beautiful sights the island has to offer. Arrive at the island on the east coast between Oyrabakki and Norðskáli. Take the shortcut through the tunnel or drive north towards Eiði. Here you are able to savour the beautiful mountain Eiðiskollur. Continue to Gjógv (»ravine«), the charming little village on the north-east tip. The place is popular because of its natural beauty. Elduvík is located in the Funningsfjørður- inlet on the north-east side. It is a cosy little village, which is split in two parts. Drive on to Hellur and Oyndarfjørður to see »Rinkusteinar«. These are two rocks, a couple of meters from the shore that are rocking back and forth all the time. The story goes that the rocks were two Vikingships on expedition. They had ravaged Fuglafjørður and were on their way to Oyndarfjørður. An old woman cursed the ships and turned them into these forever rocking rocks. In Fuglafjørður you are able to visit a hot spring which is said to have healing forces. See Nes, the village that is situated south of the Skálafjørðurinlet, which is the deepest inlet in the Faroe Islands. Runavík is part of a chain of villages stretching over a distance of 10 kilometres on the east side of the Skálafjørður-inlet. Here you can stop for refreshments before continuing your trip. As you reach Skálafjørður, you can drive to Selatrað on the west coast or drive back to Norðskáli in order to reach Tórshavn. If you choose to drive to Selatrað, you can enjoy the view over Sundalagið, the sound between the islands Eysturoy and Streymoy.
